That S10 turned out nice. My friends dad had an older 70's model ford, he took an extra hood and cut out the middle and joind the sides together to make a scoop/riser for his hood. It looked really good, almost factory since it had the same lines as the truck.

my bro in law got one done by the body shop on his 89 f150. nice looking truck all hopped up, but they couldn't seem to do it right.. they just tried fiberglassing it it and it ended up cracking 2 or 3 times before he told them that they can buy him a new cowl hood. so they actually did from us body. but i think if it was welded in place there like that one it would work fine.

ok .. Time for the dumb questions ... To me it looks like a cowl induction hood would create a suction and bring in air thru the engine compartment and help defrost the windshield ... Not bring in air from the hood down to the intake ...

I wonder what would happen if you turned it around?

the wind swirls on the cowl and get sucked into the engine bay via the opening of the scoop. I guess it will then go under the truck since it blew down there. If you turn it around i would guess you get the ram air effect if a air intake was hooked to it. other than that, a 5" cowl will look great on these models.

I remember somewhere i think it was a chevelle that had the cowl and ram air scoops in front of it. it looked OK but i wouldnt buy it/throw it on

Just wondered ... I might be getting a used Harwood drag scoop and have been thinking about mounting it on my 4x ... Like the saying goes "If it works, who cares what it looks like" ...

make it pretty and post some pics, i wanna see how itl look if ya do it

I'm wondering how to get the scoop to match with that raised line on the hood. Or i can just bring the cowl line down the whole hood and sand/prime it. i may do that

or hammer out the shape on an old hood at a junkyard...

The biggest thing to worry about is when its finished, the body filler/fiberglass tends to crack. That drives me crazy.
