HOWTO - Changing the colors of the gauge faces & backlighting of gauge clusters
#124
There was a case in my town of a guy who saw a truck in the local winn-dixie parking lot as a donor.I think he had a chevy, and he found a similar one in the parking lot,so he decided that he'd take some parts off of it.He got away with the hubcaps,a couple of lugnuts, the emblems, and the tailgate. But,somebody in the parking lot saw him taking the stuff off,and knew somethin wasn't right,so they copied down the tag number on the thief's truck, and called the police. They found the thief's truck about a mile away on the side of the road with the hood up,and the thief looking at the engine. What an idiot.

country where people do that kind of stuff to each other as a matter of survival. In the
countries like those I've seen, people don't call the police on each other or try to stop the
crime, and the cops are too corrupt to care ("the owner shouldn't have left his truck
there") and can easily be bought off to forget about it.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's originally from a deprived, perhaps third-world foreign
country where people do that kind of stuff to each other as a matter of survival. In the
countries like those I've seen, people don't call the police on each other or try to stop the
crime, and the cops are too corrupt to care ("the owner shouldn't have left his truck

i DID have a dream one night that i was carrying my tools in my car and just stopping and disassembling trucks as i found them (woke up laughing about that) but it sure would never occur to me to steal, say, someone's awesome custom white gauges when i can MAKE them and then feel awesome for having done something myself...

That's actually pretty common.Thieves stole them when scrap prices were high, since they weigh quite a bit.But now,I don't see it happening so much.
