I Hate to bump an old thread, but the search function is retarded,at least for me,and it won't show any related results when I type in White gauges. So I had to search by username, and the only one I could remember that did this mod was SycoStang. So I searched him and found the thread.Anyways, like alot of others,I have gotten sick of my dim gauges. All the colored caps deteriorated on my truck before I got it,so I just have bulbs. And that is still not bright enough for me.I'm probably gonna pick up some appliance epoxy this weekend to do the job.But I have a question. The interior in my truck is black, and in between where the a/c vents are supposed to be on the passenger side(my truck didn't come with a/c),I have an adhesive backed Ford blue oval.I was looking at it today, and I thought it would be cool to paint the numbers on my gauges Blue. But how would this show up at night?I think it would be cool, and somethin different, but I would like other opinions before I do it.Thanks alot in advance.

I think it will be ok. If it's a dark blue, it wont be too far off from black that it will still contrast against the white more than enough to see at night. I think even a medium shade of blue would probably work ok. Are you going to paint the inside of your housing silver too? I used chrome paint and I think it really helped to brighten the lighting.

If you want to see better, why not do the numbers in a florescent color like the needles.

Thanks for the reply man.Yea I was thinking of a blue, possibly close to the color in the blue ovals on our trucks. And I am also painting the housing silver.

And first today,That is a good idea, but I think that'd be a little bit strong in my case.Seeing really isn't the problem,I just want it to pop out a little more at me.I kinda just wanna update my original gauges cause we all know they're kind Blah from factory.

It was an auto, would have been an easier swap to have started with a manual though. I had to get that plate from the junkyard because I didn't want the auto indicator on there. I still have the column shifter on though, haven't had the motivation to pull it yet.

That reminds me.Many of us have broken auto indicators that don't work right because the cable broke or so on.Is it possible to just throw in a plate from a manual if I want to just get rid of the indicator?I already know the Tranny gear select sequence is PRND12,and since my indicator is broken,i'm used to feeling for the different gears anyway.

Are you sure you want to get rid of it, I think its more like PRND21.
