After reading the posts on Ses Foam I tryed some in my 88 f150. This stuff is amazing. I usually don't use anything like this but it really works. The truck runs like new.
I've used it a few times in a number of vehicles and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe I just have been lucky enough to not have dirth fuel systems. When you say "runs like new", can you give more details. What does it do differently now that it did not do before?
I ask because I'm just wondering what is so special about the stuff. I just so happened to use a can yesterday on my Taurus. I smelled the stuff and it has a strong acetone smell just not as strong as straight. I'm taking a wild guess that the stuff is a combo of mineral spirits and acetone. If that's true we could make our own for pennies. Similar thing with BG44K. That stuff smells and feels like straight mineral spirits.
dmoore, where did you use it? Gas tank, intake, or directly into the crankcase?
The instructions are on the can. You can use it in the gas tank and/or through a vacuum line. I put half a can into a half full gas tank and the other half through a vacuum line. You do this while the engine is running and then turn it off, let it set 5 minutes and then restart. I did this yesterday on the wife's Taurus. It smoked all the way home from the mall after restarting it. That's apparently a sign that it's working. BTW, a can is $5.66 at Walmart.
Whoa, don't let the engine suck it in. You could hydrolock it that way.
And i only asked where he used it because it seems that people see the most improvement when used through the intake. But he might want to change his fuel filter if he did happen to use some in the tank. Cheap and easy replacement.

Did mine the same way. Every 2 years prior to a smog check, I do plugs, cap, rotor, filters, and an oil change. Passes smog no problem but still idled slightly rough, so I put half can Seafoam through the brake vacuum line, half can in the tank and it smoothed out the idle.
Seafoam reall does work. I think you get the most use out of it is you suck it through a vacuum line.
Seafoam is similar to the stuff we use in fuel system cleaning machines.
Seafoam is great stuff. But I will warn you about running it through a vacuum line. If you do that, don't run it straight through. Mix it with something else to thin it down. I know of a guy who ran it through straight and it cleaned to good. Turned the cylinder walls and piston's white and caused it to lose compression.
I followed instructions on the can and sucked about 1/3 slowley and put the rest in the tank.
Was haveing trouble with idleing and surging. Now it idles at 700 and runs smooth.
Qman, liquids are incompressible. When you let the engine suck it in, it's too much liquid at once. Cylinder pressure will build up and eventually bend a rod, break a piston, and so on. That's why it say's to slowly pour it in, like with a funnel. You pour it in as necessary, trying not to stall out the engine.
Dmoore, good deal. But factory idle is slightly lower, about 650. Might want to check for a small vacuum leak. Every bit counts with today's gas prices.
It seems like it would be hard to suck in enough through a vacuum line to hydrolock a cylinder doesn't it? It takes about 3-4 minutes to suck in a half can (8 oz).
