The F100 regulators used a splined shaft rather than a square one. It has a necked down groove below the splines where a spring wire keeper in the handle snaps in to retain the handle. A square shaft would be too easy!

ghall is starting off with a positive reputation.
Many of the repop handles have a set screw (which in most cases is too small... drill/tap to larger size)...

I was able to 'hammer out' the escutcheons a bit to decrease their height with the door panels that existing in my 56... you can gain 'enough' right off the bat if you fold over the first 'bend' at the outer edges.

the thickness of your door panels may not let something like that work...

Sorry about that, I was thinking about the regulators on my 48. I know what you mean about simple. Most things are not simple anymore but we seem to find a way around that with somebodys help. Larry.
