Whats this thing I hear about speed control units?

Whats this thing I hear about speed control units?.
I'm reading about the F150 I just bought and saw something about a speed control unit. When did they start doing this and how do I disable it?. Also does this effect any performance of this vehicle.

I think you are getting your tail feathers all ruffled for nothing, the only speed limiter in these trucks is in the computer.. and it's well beyond what most of them can achieve.. and what something this big should be travelling at on public roads.

I would like to know how to shut mine off as well. I occasionally put mine on the track but had to stop due to being limited to 115 MPH.

I drive rather conservative on the roads (60 MPH on freeway) but I love speed every now and then. So I go to the track or the salt flats.

Like Conanski said, its computer controlled, and the only way that I've heard of that actually works is pulling some fuse that the computer is on while driving. I'm not sure that I consider that a smart or safe thing to do, especially at high speeds...
