I guess I have committed a cardinal sin

So I traded off my V10 at 96K miles for an '07 Dodge 2500 with a HEMI and only 11K miles. Tried to trade in the diesel but with the economy the way it is I couldnt get what I wanted out of it. One thing I noticed with the HEMI is how much better mileage I get than my V10, clocked it yesterday at a shade below 16 MPG, so after I get some strait pipes thrown on it I will be WAY ahead of my V10 (it got about 10MPG). Sorry guys but I just couldnt stay away from this one.

I hope this wasn't a move on your part designed to save real money.

Congrats. If the idiots working at the local dodge dealer wouldn't have treated me like poo, I would probably have a Hemi powered 2500 instead of my f250 right now.

It was, the Ford was kinda rattling apart, it was just a matter of time until something expensive went. The Dodge has only 11K miles and a 100K mile warranty. It just balanced out.

My brothers v10 got 9, his hemi got 12 and his cummins gets 16. All with a utility box and roof rack. The v10 had tranny problems. He had a voltage problem on the hemi once guess you cant leave all your electronics plugged in all night no problems with the cummins at 70k. Diesel is over 5 bucks a gallon now!LOL Still as long as the diesel gets 4 more mpg its still a savings and I can tell you from personal experience those diesel powered trucks really hold their value.

I actually buy almost all my vehicles from the dodge dealer for that reason. The ford dealer wont deal with me because I drive a hard bargain. I guess the dodge guys figure a sale is a sale even if they dont make a killing on it. Ive walked out on every single deal ive tried to put thru at the ford dealer. So I buy my fords from a dodge dealer, I dont buy new anyways.

When I update my heavy truck that I pull a 10,000# TT with, I won't buy a Ford unless they start putting a good gas motor in them. I'll go with the 6.0 Chevy or the Hemi. But the Chevy right now is my choice. If I was to buy a diesel the 12V Cummins would be the only one I would go with.

Chevy 6.0> hemi. Hemi has a lot of top end but that torque curve on the chevy is incredible.

Torque curve on the hemi is nearly perfectly flat from 1200 RPM to 4400 RPM?

Might say that on paper but I drove it. Could be where they have the tc dialed in to acheive fluid coupling. Thing had rather flat acceleration til 4k then took off like a bat out of hell. The 6.0 just pulls stronger off the line. Id say the hemi would eat the 6.0 for breakfast but if I was towing or driving around town id prefer the 6.0. Just an honest opinion from a diesel junky. Ive driven just about everything the big three offer at one time. From the 6.0 to the 6.9, three different years of hemis to 5 different generations of powerstroke and IDIs and 4 differnt generations of cummins.

So all the paperwork went through this morning and it turns out I got a REALLY good deal on the HEMI. The dealership appraised my V10 as a diesel, and before they could catch their mistake everything was approved, so instead of a $12,900 trade in I got $17,000. Overall I bought a 2007 Dodge 2500 with 10K miles for a whopping $21,000, not bad considering '08's around here go for about 38G's brand new.

What do you consider a "Good" gas motor? You'll have a hard time finding a better heavy duty gas motor than the 6.8l V10. The Hemi is a joke in my book and is a marketing ploy. The only reason the 6.0l and the 5.7l can even compete with the 6.8l is because they have 6spd trans and are over 1000lbs lighter in weight than Fords. If you want a truck that is more like a car, Chevy and Dodge are for you.

Ive driven one hemi we have in a work truck in hte 3/4 4x4 dodge truck. It sure has power but the truck isnt really much of a truck. Its got shakes rattles and rolls. It gets terrible fuel mileage, even worse then the 8 liter (I think its an 8 liter) chevy gasser truck we have.

I hope you have good luck with it though bigdaddy. Getting a new truck no matter what brand, is always fun!
