i have the understanding that 95% of new 4x4's never leave pavement unless the road is icy... thus, the stock equipment would never be taxed. start using it like a real truck, as you do, and you'll find some weaknesses... on edt, i think that you're safer in a new ford for offroading than anything else!!!

I've had my truck on 2 wheels (1 front, 1 back opposite sides) while in 4x2 and 4x4. the LS acted exactly like a locker and I drove through without any problems. What you are describing sounds exactly like an open carrier

gotta ask the obvious question...are you sure you have the LS axle?
