Don't believe everything you hear.

I didn't say they were bad, and really they aren't but I wouldn't buy them myself....I'd buy them before buckshots, but I'd use other tires before them.

The rubber compound is VERY soft on the bias and radial tires.
Only difference is the steel plys in the radial which makes them flatter.

They pull so good off road, expecially on rocks b/c of the SOFT rubber.
As most people know, soft rubber is NOT good for mileage.

Alright I got the pattented flame suit on for this one.......

I need tires for the 05, whick sees 95% street/highway use. I found that I can get a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers (which seem like a decent A/T) in a 295/70/17 (read = 33.5x11x17, dang goofy aspect ratio, metric system junk) for about $750 shipped. Seems like a heck of a deal to me.

If the 05 was my only rig I'd seriously consider some type of beefier looking M/T style tread, but I have that with my 79.

Plus a lower cost for new shoes leaves me $$$ to level out the front and put f350 blocks out back (2" lift on a f250). I'll be mall crawlin' with style in no time!!!!!!!

A friend of mine had a set of 35x12.5 terra grapplers, i don tthink they lasted 15K.

Truck was about 90/10 street/offroad use. To this day the fastest wearing A/T i've ever seen.

ghunt is starting off with a positive reputation.
It's reviews like that that make me shy away from the terra grappler (which I had been considering).

They either seem to last 40K, or they don't make it to 15K.

I'll probably still end up buying some Bighorns. Or Hankook Dynapro RT03's, I dunno.

Yeah I've read the reviews as well. Not to discredit anyones advice but I've seen that most people get decent mileage out of them. Knowing my luck I'll end up the ney sayers group, but you never know. I read crappy reviews on alot of stuff that I've used with good results.

I have the 325/70x16 cooper stt. Bassically a 34.6x12.4. They have almost the same thread pattern as the toyos. My friend is running 35" toyos. I did notice that the thread is deeper on the coopers than on the toyos. His tires are new also.

The coopers are way cheaper than the toyos. I have about 3000 miles on the and no noticable wear.

I really wanted STT's and THOUGHT that the Cooper STT's would be alot cheaper than the Toyo MT's, but there only about $20 cheaper a tire from what I've seen for the 295 that I'm after. Too rich for my blood.

Nice sig Lee!

I'm NO fan of Nito Terra Grapplers and I've heard mixed reviews, but that price doesn't sound bad.

Only all terrain type tire I've ever came close to buying was the Good Year Silent Armors. It's all around good tire.
Good mileage
Good load ratings
Good wet and dry traction b/c of all the siping
Decent tread design for a all season tire
Fairly Cheap.

I was very close to getting a set for the 04 F150, but got the Hankooks for $700 mounted and balanced instead.

I don't know why, but some places really charge a LOT for the STTs.....like you said, almost as expensive as the Toyos.

There's a small tire store in my area that has Cooper tires, and they usually have good prices, expecially if you pay cash.
