Look into a short-throw shift kit. I hear they make all the difference.
Its more than just shifting speed when comparing track times on auto's and manuals. A little slower shift equates to a lot more boost loss at the shift point. That means more boost to get back up before the engine is making power again. If you want to go fast you need an auto.If you want to drag around Dodges all you need is a PSD!

I could shift my old ranger like a dream but lets face it the PSD/ZF doesn't shift nearly as fast as an auto. Never will no matter what. I thought long and hard about the trans option when I bought this truck but in the end I chose an Auto. I like to go fast. With some hard parts you can make an auto just as reliable as the ZF if not better. Many will disagree but that is my take.

Tims right...... with an auto you can build boost from the line..... take off and hold whatever psi it runs at the entire track.

Standards cannot build boost off the line only rpms..... I peg my 35psi gauge slam the next gear have to build boost again and so on. Ended up goin 85mph down the track which was fun cuz a friend 07 dmax did 90.... but he ran low 14s

I wouldnt trade it for the world when towing heavy! The newer torqshifts are nice to tow with but not heavy loads

Tim, its okay if you cant shift like the rest of us.
We wont hold it against ya. =)

Yea, Stickshift rocks for towing.
I just get irritated when trying to tug something or move it small ammounts. I hate burnin on the clutch.
Automatic has good pulling abilities due to the TC.

I always keep my camera with me.
I baught one to fit in my front pocket.

if you have a 4x4 4 low with the hubs unlocked works great especialy for backing in a trailer into a tight space, just let the cluch out and idle it wherever you wanna go.

Donating to what? Hauling Dodge? Never done it. I pull around Internationals, Sterlings and a few Ford straight trucks. No pics but when a big truck gets stuck in our lot or one dies on a test drive I hook it up and haul it home. Tow strap not a trailer. Good fun I might add.
