Hey guys it isnt surprising that when you give up hope off seeing these trucks on the road anymore.Wala you see a sharp looking 79 F 250 4x4 cruising around town. Just happen to see this today. Was out off town an was driving through this town an there she was a 1979 F 250 4x4 black cruising around town. I just thought i was in another era when i seen this truck. It looked it came from the showroom floor it was that nice. Oh lucky me the kid that had it stopped at a convenience store an I stopped an looked at it. I BS with him a bit about the truck. He told me he bought it directly from the guy from ebay. Couldnt get it sold on there but this kid called up an haggled with him awhile an got it bought. Oh man this was his pride an joy you could see that. He loves that style truck. Told me it had 150,000 miles or so on it. It was awesome what can I say. Sorry I diodnt have my camera so no pics. But if you see uftballs signature. That 79 he has looks a lot like it. Well that sure made my day. Oh I would have love to have bought that truck. Someday I will own one off these again. Id sure love to have this one. Sorry for the long post just had to share. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit.
Awesome. Too bad no pics, but that's usually what happens when you see an awesome truck.....NO CAMERA. If it looks half as nice as UTFball (Ben's), than it must have been a really nice truck.
It was nice for sure. Definitly. But yours when your done will be a labor off love. Nothing like restoring an old truck like you have an then seeing the finished result. Theres always grerat personal satisfaction in that. The truck says you because you did the work on it. Definitly something to be proud off. Cant wait to see your truck when you finish it.
Anyways, if you ever make it on over this far SE, you'll see good bodied, well taken care of trucks. It's kinda a wealthier redneck (oxymoron isn't it?) spot in the state. Funny seeing half million dollar homes with ol' bump/dentsides gleamin in the driveway.
Amen to that Ben!!!
I still have my truck, but it is now on the market!! It didn't sell at the Nationals, and haven't had any hits on Craigslist either so it might stick around...ya never know!!
Thanks for the comments guys. Outstanding trucks both off you. These truck are around thats for sure. Theres a blue highboy in my town a 76 or so. Id love to have that truck. Its awesome. Boy I wish we had a truck show arounnd here with just 73-79s on display. Wouldnt that be awesome.
How does the market work on these truck? I know with vettes if you change motors to some thing other then what the VIN calls for it devalues the car. But for example if I were to pull the 400 from my truck for 460 would that help or hurt the value? I know its a lot of buyer preferance but what is the trend?

I also have no plans to sell either one of mine so market value really doesn't matter. I would like to see it rise on these trucks and Bronco's and over time I suspect it will on a really clean resto. Face it these trucks are slowly becoming rarer and harder to find in fair rebuildable condition as most of them are rusting out and going to the crusher.

I think it will be quite a while before the general value comes up for these trks past enthusiasts like us.Like Numbersdummy has said and members from the North West where they gravel the roads instead of salt 73-79 trks "are a dime a dozen" even with today's steel prices.Their everywhere. So until those surviving numbers come down a lot.Values wont go up.Coarse up here in NE I see a different trk every few months.
My 250? No I didn't buy that one new. I bought a brand new 79 F-150 back in the day that looked identical to the way my 250 does now. I did a complete frame off on my 250 about 5 or 6 years ago. It really did not need a frame off as it was in great shape when I got it, I just wanted to freshen it up and put the 429 in it. I have owned the 250 since April of 96. Thanks to!
Here is a pic of my F-150 back in 1980 before I wrecked it.
Thank you. My two keepers are the 250 and the Bronco. The 3rd truck that I have is a 79 150 4x4 I bought out of Ca. I presume you were thinking of a different 3rd truck.
