97 Explorer transmission fit

I have a 4.0 v6 sohc 4x4 and am wondering if I can use a trans from reg 4.0 v6 4x4. And does the trans have to have the overdrive drum sensor. I was told of a TSB taht said if o/d light was flashing to tie the wires together. Ofcourse I found this out after the trans was destroyed. Also woundering about year fits.
