That is what I did. DORMAN makes these. They work. I needed to buy 2 items from Advance Auto Parts, a pack of UNIONS (I only needed the 3/8" union) and the 3/8" hose with 5/16" connector. cost me less than $25 and took me about a 1/2 hour to install and now I could do it in about 10 minutes. I think they were part numbers 800-054 for the hose connector and 800-154 for union pack.
They were in stock in their HELP section.
I only replaced the fuel line I cut (OUT of filter). I took it to work and got our companies assistant mechanic to change my fuel filter since the back connector was giving ME a problem and I wanted to try avoiding cutting fuel line. It took him about a half hour. Should have done this (let the mechanic do it) from the start but I guess I learned something that will maybe handy down the road. Would have saved me a lot of time, money and agony.
The tech guy at DORMAN (Marty), was very, very helpful and patient although it was a hassle to get through to him. He gave me the part numbers and guided me thru the process while I was on their web page looking at the prescribed parts.
That fuel filter was full of nasty crap. My truck seems to be running worse. I filled my tank up half way and added a bottle of SEAFOAM so hopefully in a few days it won't be stuttering, dieseling and backfiring ... hopefully.
