I like the clear. It looks much better. You'll have to make the side markers clear too.

I personally prefer the amber set up...but if you do decide to go clear...go all the way around, or the front clears will look outta place.

If it's an early 1976, then yes it is.

Those bumper guards are apart of the Explorer package on his truck.

Athough the bumper is missing the two horizontal pads for the sides. Suggests it's been swapped before.

I'd go with clear on your truck it just looks cleaner, use the amber bulbs tho' just to confuse people when you use them

I voted clear thats what both my 76's and my 77 have and I just like the way they look.

SwOkcOffRoader: If you have those "bumper pusher things" and don't want them send em my way. I need them and the side pads for my "76 Explorer that was missing the whole bumper when I got it.

It really depends on the color. On your truck, I would go with the clear.

My truck is off white, and I'm going to go with clear to blend in.

I think the only way the side ones would look good clear would be if the truck jad the trim that wrapped around the light. His don't so I wouldn't go that route IMO

Here is a picture of a 1977 Explorer in red with the bumper intact. You can see the horizontal rub strips plainly.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gall...=95258&width=0

This bumper was used on all Explorers, and some Ranger XLTs from 1973-1977. In 1978 they Redesigned the front bumper to match the newer grille.

More pics of 1968-1986 Explorers in my gallery.
