either wait for NumberDummy to come around or PM him right now........BUT FIRST search the forum and see if you can find the stuff by yourself. NumberDummy helps a lot but it takes time to find all of the stuff he does for some of these people. good luck!

I need the fuel filler neck for the side (frame rail) tank on my 78 F150. Mine has rusted out and is allowing rainwater into my gas tank. Ive called all the dealers around here and no body has one. Any one know the part number? Mine is a ford part but I dont see a part number on it anywhere. Thanks in advance!
1978 F150 what? Flareside? Styleside? 8 foot bed? 6 foot bed? 2WD? 4WD? Midship tank or aft axle tank?
I also need the serial number = the last 6 digits of your trucks VIN. If you didn't give this info to the dealers, how would they know anything about the filler necks availability?
They wouldn't. All they did was shine you on.
All of this makes a difference on which filler neck you need, because there are over FIFTY different types 1973/79!
Give me the info, I'll list the part number and see if anyone has a new one = dealers included.
I can search: EVERY Ford dealers inventory in the US, also all the sellers of Ford obsolete parts that have websites.
All the factory tanks auxillary tanks are mounted behind the left frame rail.
There are no actual Ford part numbers on any part after 1956, only engineering ID or castings numbers are found on some parts. Filler necks have no numbers on them.

F14HLBC4574 is my vin but my truck has a flat bed on it so it doesnt matter if its for a style side flare side 8' 6' etc i just need it to be the right size so it will fit my filler hose. I'm not picky if you know where one is at please let me know!
BTW Its for the front tank that runs parallel to the drivers side frame rail.

If you have a flat bed, and it's original to the vehicle, the truck is classified as a Cab & Chassis (C&C).
On a C&C, there's an upper filler neck and a hose, and a lower filler neck and a hose all connected together.
Is this what you have?
If this was originally a Styleside pickup, and someone besides yourself swapped beds, then there's (maybe-depended on what was used) one filler neck and one hose.
Sorry I can't post pics, I'm using the parts catalog on microfiche.
F14 = 4WD = that also makes a difference whether it's a C&C or not.

I have several. I really dont use regular gas tanks in my trucks, so I have a few still in the vehicles.
If you do the legwork, and determine if stock 76 aft tank filler will work, or even 79 foward, or aft fillers will work, I can remove them from the trucks or even the spare beds.
Unfortunately I reside in So. Ca, and shipping these components might be worse than just buying any filler from the local salvage yard.
I do not believe you need a soecific unit from a ford, when just about any filler with the same size hose would work for you.
Then your solution is quick, and you dont have to wait for shipping.

If he takes your advice, so be it...I'm going out for dinner (I'm in CA also), be back later.
btw: Some of the filler necks used 1978/79 are a different diameter than the types used 1977 and earlier. So if he has one...how can he adapt the earlier neck to work?
There's no "necked down" (or up) filler hose supplied by Ford and...good luck finding any of the filler neck hoses, because all are obsolete.

I'll buy one from you and pay shipping if you can spare it. I definitely dont need a specific one as long as the hoses fit. The vent tube looks like 3/4" and the filler tube is 2 1/4". I would think most Ford trucks from back then should be the same. If the hoses fit I can rig it to work, lol. As you can see in the pic I tried to use metal filler and make it water tight but it still seeps.
Ive owned this printer/scanner/camera setup for almost a year and now I've finally figured out how to use it!! Heres the old truck at a mud run last summer.
Good looking truck.
I will head over to the shop tomorrow. It will be a day for dad and daughter to hang out, she likes to work at the shop with her old man, lol. I will get over there and pick a couple of those things up and post a pic or two for you.
I have one sitting here still attached to a 79 truck, but it is shaped a little different than that one.
Either way, I will post some pics, and provide some measurements so you can decide.
Unfortunately I can t ship until monday, but I will try to help you out.
Are you sure that nothing else can be made, or modified to work?
No salvage yards out there that might carry a similar unit?
Like I said, no sweat either way.
PM with contact info sent to you.........
No it wasnt a factory flat bed, it had the flat bed on it when I bought it last year. I'm sure there are tons of different filler necks with different bends etc for 6' beds, styleside beds, 8' beds, factory flat beds, etc etc. But any of those will work for me as long as the filler tube is 2 1/4" and the vent tube is 3/4" which I'm guessing is standard size.
75F350...received your pm and replied via your verizon email address. I have called around and sure cant find one, my next idea would be to knock on doors of people who have these old trucks sitting in their fields but some of those may be rusted out or close to it also.
Right on man. I took some pics this morning, and thn me shop partner and I took off to Disneyland. We just returned. I will post pics via the return e-mail, and we can determine wich will work the closest.
I am assuming that just about any will work provided that the diameters are correct.
Should be no problem.
Bill brings much to the table and his ability with these part numbers is second to none. I am sure if this was a little different situation, and you needed the absolute correct part, he would be the resource for that, but I do think that your requirement is more for something that will work as a retro-fit, and not leak, lol.
I will get one out to you bud.

Your help is much appreciated sir!!
And you are correct, I could care less about the length or bend of it, the only thing i need is for the main tube to be 2 1/4" and the vent to be 3/4".(and to be water tight)
