I haven't yet which is why I labeled them as "snake oil" in my experience.
Huh, thats odd everyone Ive talked to has had some sort of gain, some up to 3-4 mpg. Im goin to assume that you hand calculated it and not goin off the overhead computer, right?
It seems that going from the stock air box to the 6637 gained me back that 0.5mpg. Never noticed a drop with the ULSD
Doesn't that mean that it did drop with ULSD but you got it back via the airbox?

When I try something new, my tank is about as empty as I dare to have it. I try keep things consistent. For instance, when I used Biodiesel, I would use the fuel from the same station and add the calculated amount of B100 in. That way I can get B40, B20 or whatever I want.
With this method, I would calculate cruising mileage. Since I travel about 80 miles each way when I do, it should be easier when all are highway miles. With that in mind I can say that I have never gained a mile on any additive I have tried. I also have a 99 E300 Turbodiesel that I do the same experiment on. So far, not a thing. When I do this, I have to run at least 10 tanks to get any sort of reading. So far, Schaffer's Dieseltreat 2000 has gained about 1 mpg in the truck but less than that on the E300 but I am unsure if it is really the additive or whether it is the switch from winter to summer blend of diesel.
Yes, I hand calculate it otherwise I would be having 27 mpg at some points. I fill it till I can fill no more. Burp it and keep filling till it is really full. Drive it and get the mileage and compare it against the GPS. One tank will be with and the next without.

Damn I dont know what to tell you, thats kinda crazy.

Yeah, but I did the swap right around the time ULSD hit our area, so I noticed no real change in mileage. Winter mileage was better, but the summer is the same.

I know. IF there were something out there that could give me 3 mpg, I would be all over it like a cheap suit.

which if you know anything at all thats an International. I loooove my 7.3 and intend to keep it FOREVER! It will probably out live me if I keep the body nice. she's 8 yrs old and about to hit 150,000. Furthermore this Mike guy in the link from the original poster, he's a chevy dealer, and as we all know most car salespeople are liars and he's trying to scare us into selling our Fords and buying some dura-crap. So if theres anyone who lives in the Dallas, tx area who wants to go Chevy shopping and happens to run into a douchebag that says ONLY CHEVY's WILL RUN ON ULSD!!!! OOOOHH BEWARE SELL NOW AND BUY FROM MEEEEE! Let the rest of us know so we can just ignore him when he shows up. OR do what you want, I'm not advocating anything but these type of people get what they deserve in the end.

I have had Ford dealerships trying to sell me a 6.0 when I was looking for my Excursion a couple years back. Oh, the 6.0 is a way better engine than the 7.3 will ever be. Coincidently, they have a 6.0 or two on the lot. I asked "Why are 7.3s so hard to get when 6.0s are plentiful? Oh, the 7.3 drivers are driving them into the ground. So the 6.0 is so good because and we know that because the owners are ditching them after a couple of years? Really? Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Either way they are salespeople and will shaft you with the high hard one and no lube if they can.

I worked at selling cars years ago, and only lasted 2 months; the shady crap that other salespeople BRAGGED about was disgusting. One guy even shafted his own cousin at $4k ABOVE COST on a car!!! Gotta love family like that!
I read some of the posts and "Mike" loved to ridicule people for their lack of knowledge, and COMPLETELY ignored the fact that 1) Chevy had diesel trucks before the Duramax, and 2) that there is an aftermarket that would see a new market segment (fuel additives) that would arise]
Being this is the 7.3 forum of course we prefer the 7.3 over the 6.0. Neither engine is perfect, but the 7.3 has and continues to prove itself as an incredibly reliable powerplant.... and that's my primary need in a truck. Not winning races or bench-racing a spec sheet.
To each his or her own, but I've made my choice and have no regrets.
