I greased the front end and one of the fittings on the passenger side was loose. So I tightened it and it still won't take the grease, any suggestions?
The past two mornings the truck would not start, so I jumped it off and it started. On my stock voltage gauge it usually runs a little more than halfway but was down to about a 1/3. As I drove the truck a lot today it worked it's way back to a little more than halfway. Does this sound like a battery issue or maybe an alternator issue. There was no warning, just Thursday morning it happened and this morning.

replace the grease fitting. most parts stores will check the output of the alternator. a quick check is to see what the voltage is on the battery not running and running. a good charged battery is 12.6 volts and with the motor running about 13 volts plus a little.

I took the grease fitting off and it looked fine but I guess any parts store carries them? Do I need to remove the alternator to have it checked?

Yes to the testing, the belt is harder to get back on then taking the alternator off, IMHO.
So I need to get the batteries checked first?

I would check the batteries first. I'm no expert but if you disconnect the battery cables and check the volts on each battery first to see how many volts. Then put the cables back on and start it up and while its running check the volts on each battery. If its more volts running, then the alternator is at least putting out something. If it still acts up then take the alt off and get it checked.

One battery was almost completely dead and drawing from the other one so I got two new ones. I was in a pinch and a hurry and the only/best thing I could find was two Bosch brand batteries with 1000 CA and 850 CCA. Three year free replacement warranty. Cranked right up real strong with the new batteries.

Its a good thing you replaced both battery's. I don't know about Bosch barreries but you made them sound good. I just replaced my eight year old interstate batteries with a new set, like you said, cranked right up.
