new member, new explorer, lots 'o pics!

hello all, I just purchased a 1977 ford explorer as a "restification" project. my last project, a 1962 mercury meteor 2-door found a new home last february and I have been looking for something ever since. well, after a 4 hour drive, here's what I came home with...

...it has a 351M, 3 on the tree, 9" rear, power steering and brakes, runs like new, but looks a little rough.
(be kind, remember, these are the BEFORE photo's)

I am looking forward to many months(*cough*years) of info and interaction with the forum!

-William

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Not a bad looking truck you have there. It seems Red was the popular color for the Explorer special in 1977.

If you look at my gallery you will find an explorer gallery. In it you will find a red 1977 with it's Explorer pinstripes still intact. It has the optional topper, and Regular tu-tone treatment. You can find the picture here.

Anyway, welcome to the forum, and welcome to the Explorer Family.

Welcome. Nice truck. Interior looks to be in real nice shape. Heck, the outside isn't too bad either. Will be a great project.

Very nice, straight body no wrinkles excellent. Rust should be attacked. Now where are those pictures taken because it looks like a movie set backdrop. Very beautiful area. Who could imagine cutting that grass.

i love that truck, that bumper is one of my favorite things about my 77 explorer.. i can push these silly plastic cars up hills around turns and not even scuff em

My explorer emblems are below the dentside on mine, what month was yours made?

hope yours is as good to you as mine has been

I got laughed at by most people, but I gave $1000 for the truck, it has 110,000 miles on it.

The location is my yard, Hedgesville, WV

well she's a good'ol truck. but just a work of caution. Not to many people see the beauty in these ol 4x2 Fords. You won't see the return you did in the Merc.
Give it some blood sweat and tears into the body and slap a cheap "resale red" paint job on it and enjoy her keepin your fingers crossed you don't have to put and real time or money into, say, the powertrane

Nice truck and welcome to FTE. I have to say I haven't seen the door lock sliders used on a tailgate before; that is pretty cool
