Question Rough idle

I have a 1997 Ranger it idles rough goes from 1500rpm then down to about
600 rpm it shackes the truck so bad that the whole truck sways from one side to the other like a rocking motion, when i turn the AC on it goes away.
changed plugs and wires cleand the MAF sensor changed IAC valve $93.00
also changed the Throttle Position Sensor another 40.00 and sense the check engine light was on i changed the Emission:Vapor Canister Purge Valvle 37.00 and the and the Emission: Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid 179.00
just replaced the last two items today reset the computer so the engine light would go off hope by replacing the last two items the check engine light stays off. the only code that shows up is P1443 hope some one has an idea on how to fix the rough Idle Here in Ontario Canada we have to get our cars/trucks clean air tested every 2 years and mine is due in a couple of months and it has to be able to stay idleing

OK. Since you have the P1443 code, you should start with that. P1443 is an EVAP code. Usually the fix is to acquire a new solenoid/sensor assembly. Is that what you replaced already?

How to fix code P1443 for a 1997 Ford Ranger - OBDII

Did you disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to erase the codes?

OBD-II vehicles (96->) don't have volatile memory in the ECU. Disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or 10 hours won't clear the stored codes. Only way is to use a scan-tool.

Disconnecting the battery will turn off the CEL and clear any pending codes stored in KAM.

From the '02 Ford Manual:
The OBD-II system monitors for malfunctions either continuously, regardless of driving mode, or non-continuously, once per drive cycle during specific drive modes. A pending DTC is stored in the PCM Keep Alive Memory (KAM) when a malfunction is initially detected. This pending DTC maybe erased on the third vehicle restart after two consecutive drives cycles with no malfunction. However if the malfunction is still present after two consecutive drive cycles, the MIL is illuminated. Once the MIL is illuminated, three consecutive drive cycles without a malfunction detected are required to extinguish the MIL. The DTC is erased after 40 engine warm-up cycles once the MIL is extinguished.

thanks for answering Rockledge to answer your last two Questions the answer is yes to both not only replaced both of those parts erased the code and then drove it for a 5 mile run parked it in the drive way for a couple of hours before i had to go out again
and the check engine light came back on within an 1/8 of a mile, also have tried to see if there is a vacuume leak and can't find one,

Have the computer re-scanned to see what it's unhappy with now.

If it's the same P1443 code, are you smelling any raw gas fumes under hood, or outside the truck around the gas cap area????
If so suspect a bad gas cap seal or cap, or a faulty evap system vacuum line or fitting.

If no under hood raw fumes, maybe the old vacuum hose to the manafold is bad/dryrotted inside & pices have restricted, or blocked it internally.

Have you overfilled the gas tank lately, or maybe filled it really full, then parked on a slant, such that the tank got warm, the gas expanded & has saturated the cannister with raw fuel????

A bunch more thoughts for pondering.
