yeah, she is oily, and greasey and fuely. I'll try the simple green and hose idea maybe a little scrub brush as well, but when all else fails, the scrubbing bubbles theory with be tested. As for the tranny, I figured 130$ for a pump is worth it to me to replace, cause if it's still doing it after, then I'll be able to check that off the list. it's one of the cheaper replacement possibilities at this point. I'm starting cheap, and I'll work my way up. I'm gonna take the turbo, and pedistal off as well. are there any gaskets, O-rings, or hoses I should have on hand before I start this. I have the manual for the motor, so I'm sure that will help me along the way, but any little tips will be nice. Thanks for all your input.

Simple green is great on grease.
Spray it on heavy and let it set. Then hose and repeat.
Be easy on the water.
I know you can power wash a gaser, but i dont think i would a diesel, to much oil and electronics on the PSD's.
Though, i'm sure its fine, you just cant get any water in the fittings with the garden hose unless the fittings are bad. (does this make sense?)
Sounds like your TC isn't locking to me, and that the fluid is to low.
But then, it shoudln't be so random if thats the case.

well, I bought this cheap engine degreaser from advanced auto, and it worked pretty good, had to do some scrubbing on it though so I sacrificed the dish scrubber (hope the Mrs. understands). I'm letting her dry now. I stop by the international dealership and got the washers/gaskets whatever you call them for the banjo bolt, and picked up a 1-1/4 open end box end wrench for the banjo bolt. Man that looks like a real bear to get to. Also picked up a set of crowsfoot wrenches for the filter post. Anything else I should get before I begin to tackle the fuel pump? I picked up the fuel pump at Advanced for 80$ cheapest one I could find. I'm starting the job in about an hour, hope it doesn't rain, or get dark out before i finish.

well problem or not, I'm ***** deep in my engine. Goin good so far. That valley was attrocious. I'd be done by now, but cleaning as I go is takin some time. That banjo bolt is about enough to make you wanna drive the truck off a cliff. Got it off, didn't need to bend the wrench either, though it would have made life easier. does the 5/16 and 3/8 hose need to be high preasure, or just normal fuel hose?

I know what you mean. Well I'm getting everything ready for reassembly and I can't get the washer/gasket off the one side of the banjo bolt fitting. The only one that came off is the one on the bolt side, the one that attaches to the pump won't come off and I don't want to mess it up. should I double it up, or just replace the one that came off and leave the one thats stuck alone

I put a little grease on the washers to hold them in place while getting the threads started. It is a bit of a pain to get them started but once you do smile ..... ,,, then cuss because you will work your fingers to the bone turning that wrench a million times (well seemed like that). One done and running check that banjo bolt again because you might have a leak there. Just give it another snug with the wrench.
