How could it possibly be the engine? At 3000 rpm that dude is gonna go.....unless the power isn't being transferred to the ground.

Lock the hubs and drive it around in 4 hi and see if it does it. Maybe it's not the tranny but the chain in the transfer case that's jacked up.

so after cleaning my air filter, draining the fuel bowl, cleaning that little screen on the right, and putting yet another new filter in, I got around to putting the new universal in my front drive shaft. I then put it in 4 hi and drove around like that for about 15 minutes or so, in town and on the highway, and as soon as I was pulling out from exiting the off ramp it did it again... Any other possibilities anyone?

Maybe replace it again ??? Does the motor really rev up to 3K (you can hear it) or the tac just indicates that ?

I gues I could try the cps, but last time that went bad it just stalled out on me...it didn't effect any other performance...just stalling. and it's deffinately revving to 3k rpm, my truck screams, and the tac is reading it also. I end up having to pull over to the side of the road, putting it in park then shutting the engine off, then I start it back up and its fine for a while. what a pain in the a$$. If I didn't love this truck, I'd be rid of it. Reminds me of my woman

She doesn't scream, does she? LOL. Maybe the computer is bad or the IDM?

My dad has been thinkin maybe my computer is goin scitzoid on me. They're not very cheap. Anyone live near me so I could take theres and put it in my truck just to see if it would cure it. I don't like droppin 700 on a hunch. Then stuck with it if it doesn't fix it.

Sure sounds electrical since you can turn truck Off - On and it goes away. I'm transmission stupid so can't help you there. Do you have the exhaust back pressure valve unplugged, most of us do. If that thing is closing on you it certainly would cause poor performance. Two wire plug at the base of the turbo.

sounds like you need a better tranny shop, if you are losing speed with the truck hitting 3k then somewhere there is slippage not alloowing the power to find the ground.

Ok,

You pull over, let her sit and fire her up and she is good for a while...?

So, let's get realistic, the engine starts, runs, revs and sounds great... Take the engine out of the equation...

And you have the Trans Pros who can't do nuttin but read a puter (this is half of the problems theses days, puters make people stupid cause they end up not being able to think for themselves!) Ya can't fix stupid...

This sounds like one of the following (old school here):
1) Trans Oil Pump could be failing
2) As stated, Torque converter is failing
3) Trans is failing / Bands slipping after the heat up

All once you put a load on (heat)

I would take a wild guess and say if you drive it around for about an hour, then power brake her, your going to see some serious slippage...

I would not over do it...

I bought a new full size 1983 Bronco long ago. When I had about 800 miles on it the transfer failed. What it would do is act just like the transfer was out of gear. If I pulled over and stopped, put the tranny in N then back to drive the transfer case would hold power. If you reduced power it would disengage.

Ford replaced a plastic waver looking disc and it went for 10k miles and failed ago. After a brief demonstration of Texas redneck behavor the Dealer and Ford agreed to replace the complete transfer case.

This could explain both the tranny and engine being called "good".

well, I do have the backpreasure vavle still plugged in, so I'll try unplugging that. However I do believe my engine runs A ok. She purs at idle, and sounds smooth at high revs. So I'm thinking electrical, or trans/torque...or possibly a combo of the 2. Now if it is electrical, you would think it would pop a code, but none come up with a scan tool. Do you guys think thats still a possibility. Or should I just go keep lookin for a good tranny shop. I live in Williamsport, Pa if anyone lives close to there and has suggestions where I should take it please let me know. Oh, I'll try the breakstand too, I never abuse her like that narmally, but I'm outta options. Worth it to see what happens.

I don't have a boost guage, but the other day when I had the filter out to be cleaned I took off the piping to the turbo, making sure the fiter was doing it's job (it was). The fins looked fine, no pits, no bent fins, all appeared to be normal. I will unplug the ebpv today though, and do a breakstand or 2 like suggested previously. I will get back with you folks later this evening with results. I schedule yet another appointment with a transmission specialist. at least thats what he calls himself, so I guess I'll find out.

I've come to the comclusion it's not the tranny, or the tc. I think it's starving for fuel under load, cause now it doesn't rev up anymore, it's bogging out. So how do I test the fuel pressure, and if it's not up to snuff wheres the best place to start fixing it.
