Tranmission gauge for 99 ford 4x4 powerstoke

I've a recent problem with the tranny fluid getting hot and puking out a qt or so when towing at higher elevations and typical 100 degree summer days. I've installed an additional cooler and replaced fluid with synthetic. Before I invest in other products I believe installing a tranny gauge is best. Do any of you know if the transmission has a port, or plugged hole for installing a gauge or will I need to have a shop perform the work and tap in a hole for the new gauge. I have the Lariat modle. I would assume if the tranny has the port I can install the sensor without draining any fluid. You help is always appreciated. Thanks, CJ

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.

on the driver side of the trans..just above the lip of the pan.. you will see a plug..have sensor ready..pull plug and stick sensor right in..you may get wet from the oil...drop down to the 99-03 7.3 forum..lots of good info down there for most any thing you need...also that mods and fixes link in my sig is pretty handy to have...

Don't forget some RTV or Teflon tape for the threads on the sender before you put it in. I installed mine dry and it's dripping so you'll definitely want to use some type of sealant.
