2003-2004 F250 Crew Cab 6.0L Diesel

Looking to get the above truck, upgrading from my 2002 Ford ranger 4.0 to a Diesel. Looks like a normal price for this truck is between $12,000 to $15,000 used, with them dropping as low as $8,000-$9,000 for high mileage ones (200-250k).

Since I will probably be putting on between 5 and 10k a year, is there anything to worry about when buying a higher mileage truck of this version? Do they usually last a lot longer? Will I run into a ton of problems shortly down the road?

If you are looking for those years of truck most would recommend you look for a 7.3L diesel. The early 6.0L engines were much more trouble prone. The 2005-2007 6.0L had a lot less problems.

If the earlier 6.0's had problems, then would I be better off lowering my year down to 1999 or so with the 7.3L? The only reason I wanted the 2003-2004 was for the 6.0 which seemed to have more power.

Were there significant changes inside that generation?
