If you are going to start replacing things, do the FPDM first. It's only about $100.00 and the fuel pump is around $650.00. The FPDM can cause the fuel pump to not run so the pump may be okay. In my case the FPDM shorted the fuel pump as well. I don't have a wiring diagram but if you do to the FPDM and pull the plug off of it, there should be 2 grounds and 2 12v hots. If you don't have those in the plug then you are going to have to look at the wiring diagram. If you do have he 2 grounds and 2 12 volts its probably the FPDM.

This is just the price for the fuel pump. You may do better at an Autozone or someplace like that but my mechanic locally looked it up through Napa and the list price was $679.00.

I don't think the fuel pumps are a problem. What everyone needs to pay attention to is the FPDM. On the 04 it is located behind the spare tire bolted to the round cross member on the frame. The FPDM is subject to road salt and other road hazards and once it corrodes through you are in trouble. By the way, the FPDM will corrode on the area that is up against the frame. You can't see it unless you unbolt it from the frame and look at the back of the FPDM. Mine had a hole in it that was about the size of a nickel and when the water finally made it in there, it shorted out and then shorted out the fuel pump.

Glad my bad experience helped you out. That will be $600.00 please. The least you can do is pay 1/2 of my repair bill!!!! Just kidding of course. Glad I could help. I'm new to this forum and find it to be a great help. Nice work to all of the guys that reply to people's issues.
