Possible to bend back yourself with a rubber mallet, two blocks of wood and the countertop? I never tried, But my inexperience tells me it might be possible. Unless new ones are cheap.
Nice cabentry in your kitchen by the way. I won't show my wife that.

That is a bent pushrod.
They have to roll perfectly flat. None of that back and forth stuff like that one is doing.
Locktight is a negotiable item IMO.
Given the track record, this needs to be a service item, retorquing the rockers and injectors.
Haven't really nailed down an interval, but until then, I'm going to call it every 20k just to be safe.
I'm going back in on my truck within the month. Going to Yellowstone with the kids in August and this needs to be done before we go.
I'll be checking the cylinder head bolts too, this time around, for curiosities sake.

All 8 of them that I have pulled had a slight bend like that. I dont think its the countertops, that was the 4th counter I tried, and they all did it. Im not even going to try to rebend them, it more than likely wont work.
I can get hypermax harden rods for $325 for the set, so Im not too concerned about what the dealer is going to charge me.
I agree this needs to be a service item, I could not believe I when I was checking the torque on them, the entire drivers side was loose.
Is just having loose rocker pedestals the reason they bend, or are there other reasons for it?
Honestly, I couldn't answer that question. Not good enough at engineering to be able to give you a confidant answer.
They all need to roll flat though. The one in the video is scrap.
Perhaps the engine was over-revved at some point in time?

Are you pulling off the other cover?

Its already off, just ran out of time to pull the rockers off the other side, after I seen the one side is bent, I am going to replace all of them just to be safe. I hope this was all the problems with my truck, kinda odd the way it came about, one day I just heard it, it must have been there for a long time, but after the regulated return I thought it was still injector noise and passed it off. Then just recently it started to get worse, glad I caught that before something really bad could have happened.
Wow only $2.00 a peice. Yup, i would not spend the time to attempt to straighten them. Not worth the time and risk. Good job finding those rods and sharing that video..
