Door ajar/cargo light staying on

03 F250. Noticed on the drive from the job site to the office, that my door ajar light was on. Didn't think much about it, went in to the office to do some paperwork, about 10 minutes. Came out and the cargo light and puddle lights were still on. It's a 2 door regular cab, so I closed the passenger door twice to make sure it was closed. Drove home, door ajar light on the entire way. Called ahead and asked wife to meet me in the drive so she could see if the puddle/cargo lights were on before I opened the door. She said they were off. I shut it down and the puddle and cargo lights came on like they were supposed to. However, they didn't shut off. Had to pull neg side of battery. BTW, the office is less than a mile from my home. When I pulled the neg terminal, it was extremely hot. Hotter than the motor was.

This is a plain jane. No electronic entry, electric locks, windows etc. I know my wifes Windstar did this a couple times when we had it and it was door sensors that failed @ $225 a pop. However, I don't see any sensors like she had. Any ideas appreciated. I have no clue where to start on this issue. Thanks....!

spray the door latch with WD40 and open/close doors a couple times. If that doesn't do it, the switch in the door (on the latch) went bad and needs to be replaced, or you could have a short somewhere

In case you aren't sure what he means here is a pic showing where to spray.

aldridgec is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I'm not real clear on your picture. Do you have another angle?

Some answers should be really easy to find on here.
