actuator 98' ford explorer drivers side-intermittent issues

I recently replaced the drivers side actuator on a 98 Ford Explorer Sport.
The problem previously was with the door not unlocking without some manually force (pull the door knob up while trying to unlock it.). The problem was intermittent.
Well, the actuator was replaced and it still is a issue some of the time.
I've read posts on the linkage needing grease but there are very little moving parts.
Any suggestions on what to check next?
Gavin

By actuator I assume you mean the solenoid? You can use a DVOM to check power at the switch and also move it device manually to see if there is binding. Lubrication at pivot points helps with this kind of device.
