Deep Trans pan for 1999 V10
Good day. I have a new to me F250 Super Duty we will be using for towing.
4x4, SuperCab, long bed.
It is frequently well over 100 out herein No. Cal, and the hills are long and steep (Donner Summit on I80, Siskiyou Summiton I-5, etc) so temperature control is a priority. With regards to the 4R100 transmission, I have installed an auxiliary massive B&M trans cooler, manual TC lock up switch, and filled with Redline High Temp ATF. Temp gage will be in soon.
I would also like to add a deeper sump pan. I picked up a steel Derale pan, but it would not fit - the passenger side front corner interfered with the exhaust pipe by at least 1/4". The pipe is pretty convoluted on the '99 V10 - with a 180 bend in one tube so the 3" diameter collector ends up covering part of the pan.
I imagine an aftermarket Y-pipe would move the pipe over and out of the way, but headers and Y pipe are not in the budget until next year.
In the meantime, are there any other deep pans that are known to fit?
It looks like the Mag-Hytek is relieved along the front edge, but is it enough to fit under the pipe without being so close it turns into a fluid heater?

See where you're at with the big trans cooler. Another option that some people have tried with mixed results is to put a small electric fan in front of the trans cooler, so you're still forcing air through it on slow, steep climbs. Manual switch, or temp controlled window switch, your choice.
