Superchips programmer...worth it?

I found a superchips programmer on craigslist for $150 and can probably get it for $100. I really know nothing about these..are they worth it? Do you have to run high octane gas, or are there options for regular? How much more power can I expect and will it increase my gas mileage?? Thanks.

Be aware that the vehicle that it was used in previously has to be returned to stock tune or the programmer is disabled.

Really depends on how you drive. There's a bit of a increased in performance, so if you start stomping on the gas, there goes more gas. If you want to get the most performance out of it, you have to switch to premium gas, again more expensive gas. I would not bother with it if you're just looking for increase in MPG, but if you just really want to increase performance or tow often, it's not a bad price. Check on the superchips website for the model, some of the programmers can be updated on the web.

On my 98, the superchips did make a difference in performance...with the 87 octane tune and no further tuning to the shift points...I noticed you don't have to presss the gas as hard to get it to perform like the stock tune and does upshift better....gas mileage really didn't change...looks to be a lil' better then stock....but I get different mpg's from different stations...some stations that used to get the best will sometimes get worst then the worst ones I filled up at before..go figure

Transmission shifting is better. Other wise no difference. It can compensate for bigger tires and different gears in the 99+ trucks. My truck seems to run much better on the 87 tune than the 93.

I'd do it for $100. I think I paid $150 for mine on Ebay.
