Has Anyone Used this Motorcraft Oil?

Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 High Milage Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

SAE 5W-20 High Milage Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

My Escape has 80K miles on it and wonder if this oil should be used or is it just hype. I have consistently used Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend since I had the vehicle and never had a problem. What do these "high milage" oils have in them that make them different than regular oils?

I haven't seen this oil for sale anywhere, so I am presuming you can only get it at a Ford Dealership's Parts Dept. same goes for the full synthetic oil Motorcraft has come out with.

Most "Hi-Mileage " oils have additives that help swell the seals to stop them from leaking.
If you do not have any seal leaks stay with what your using

Regards

Thank you gasman for the reply. I knew about the seal thing, but was wondering if there was anything else in the oil that would make it different than regular 5W-20 syn blend from Motorcraft.

I have two Wal-Marts in my area and neither of them carry it, just the regular 5W-20 syn blend. I also do not go over 4K for an oil change, and knock on wood, no problems. I also change my tranny fluid every other oil change, dump 4 quarts and add 4 quarts, tranny fluid always looking fresh and red. May be overkill, but I think the tranny is the weakest link in the Escape, so why take care of it for a few bucks.
I don't have any oil leaks, so I think I will stay with what I am using.

I used Motorcraft syn blend 5W20 in my 4.2L F-150 on it's first two changes. The first change was at six months (1650 miles) and was done by the dealer. I did the second change a year later at 4300 miles. I was so impressed with this oil that I'm now using it in our two '03 Saturn VUEs (5W30) instead of Mobil-1. Don't ask me to quantify 'why' I like it better - all I can say is after having it on my hands and seeing how great it looks after a year in the truck, I just got a feeling about it that I'm going with. I can tell you this - because the oil plug is on the passenger's side of the aluminum oil pan on the vertical side, the oil shot out farther than I expected when I positioned the catch pan. The resulting oil spill area on the asphalt drive was about a square foot. Any other oil spill I've ever had was pretty easy to wash away, but I still haven't been able to get rid of that one. I've used all kinds of strong detergents with a stiff brush, and its still there after several attempts and several hard rains. That tells me something, know what I mean? So, for 80K miles and no oil use or leakage on your vehicle, I would advise to keep using the syn blend. If it ever starts using or leaking oil, you might try the special Motorcraft, but I would see no need for it now.
Speaking of the Escape automatic trans, what are you guys using? My son has one that seems to get 'shudder' not long after a fluid change, and I was thinking of getting him to use Valvoline 'Max Life' Dex/Merc ATF which is rated for just about every trans, including Toyota T-IV which is a very highly friction-modified ATF.
