Trans Fluid questions

Just performed a complete trans service on my Expy. My parts house no longer carries Motorcraft, so I went with my next choice Valvoline Max Life. It states on the bottle it will do both Mercon V, and Mercon...Mine requires just Mercon. Am I in for any issues?????

Thanks! Whenever possible, I always use factory fluids, except in areas where I can find a superior product. Although when it comes to trannies and Ford, I get nervous.

Just did a full fluid and filter change on my 03 Navi.

Ford has issued a service bulletin stating that Mercon V is the replacement for Mercon.

I asked for it in writing and reviewed it because like many, I always want to put in the original (from the dealer) fluid when possible.

The Motorcraft fluid from my dealer was actually about the same (if not cheaper) than from retail outlets...
