Morning fellas... Got dark again last night. Seems to be a growing trend.

The wind put a damper on our first task attempted yesterday. We're putting metal on the 50x60 shop that we framed. It was breezy but we though we could handle it. Once the metal was on the scissor lift, the wind managed to get under it some how and folded 4 sheets of metal over like bedsheets. I'm just happy no one got hurt.

Do you plow commercially Gerry or just for yourself?

Have a great day all!!

Good morning fellas, if it wasn't for the snow that's falling here. You all have yourselves a good day regardless.

It's hard fighting that wind Sherm, glad to hear no one was hurt, hope you get calmer days to finish up.

We have snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Small amounts but I'm sure the ground will be white.

I've thought about clearing snow for hire. I have a John Deer compact utility tractor with a 66" snowblower... Somehow I would rather have fun in the snow after I'm done clearing my own snow.

Have a great evening fellas!!!

Just be sure that folks don`t expect snow removal for a bit of coffee money.

I've heard too many people say that its tough to actually "make money" clearing snow. Worse than mowing lawns, its something people thing "oh here's a 20" when it should be 50 or more. Clearing snow is something no one wants to do except TJ Casey. I enjoy doing mine and my neighbors, but shes older and widowed now so its not a money thing. If I'm not turning a profit I might as well be sledding.

Snowed nearly all day yesterday but the ground must have been warm enough that nothing stuck too badly. The wind was down so even in the slippery snow we managed to get 5 sheets of roof metal on in a couple hours.

Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Seriously I truly enjoy snow clearing but it is difficult to make money if done incorrectly. Plus I charge far more than $20 or $50. Snow clearing is harder on equipment that is already more expensive than summer equipment. Hard to keep good employees when they dont know how many hours they can expect.

Last winter was harsh and many smaller businesses never finished the season or decided not to continue this winter. I am lucky that with careful planning. Two trucks/plows are ready to go. Just in case one truck/plow goes down. Or in heavier dumps both trucks are used to keep clearing times down.

Any idiot can cut grass. Not any idiot can successfully operate a snow business.
