Grant, you sound like a decent chap, no matter what your wife tells her friends about you...

John, we will have lots of fun. Got to take advantage of the opportunity before the town takes on the mentality of other towns and bans the right to public sledding.

Hey, I just seen Gerry posting over in another chapter of FTE... He's still alive. Perhaps he got tired of the smell in here...

Cloudy here this morning but, still warm. Just getting ready to head off to the rink for another shift of cooking burgers, fries and chicken strips. Then Matthew has a game this afternoon.

Wife and I were sitting at the kitchen table last night after we came in from unloading her sled and she says; "I can smell the exhaust from my sled. I like that smell" If it snows I may never see her again. ;-p

Good luck to Mathew in the game. Make sure he "goes to the net!" That was my favorite saying to Kalan before he started playing D 2 yrs ago. Sherm: Are they trying to restrict your tobboganing or outside activities in winter do to safety concerns? I remember as a kid, any hill higher than 10 ft qualified as a hill. There are some around Winnipeg saying some of the tobbogan hot spots are dangerous. SH** Happens. Kid's will get hurt playing. Just goota teach them a little common sense. Have a kiddy run, and a run for bigger kid's. Those complainer's never had snow when they were kid's. Enjoy the day with your families guy's.

I've been reading on different news and public media sites that some cities are banning sledding/tobogganing on public/city properties because of the "dangers". I believe A couple cities in Ontario have already posted ban signs, and I may have read of somewhere in Alberta. Pretty soon when a child is born they will be placed in bubble wrap with an oxygen mask and RO-water tube until they turn 21 unless parents sign a waiver... Its ridiculous... I'm all about letting the kids get a few bruises and bumps, a little cut or scratch won't hurt them, and since when did a mouthful of dirt hurt anyone?

The look on my B-I-L's wifes face when I dumped the kids out of the loader bucket into the snow last christmas was priceless. Pure shock. If she seen my oldest daughters chin 2 weeks ago, I would probably be in cuffs. She was taunting me as I cleared snow, so I picked up the portion of the snowbank she was standing on and promptly dumped her on her head. She had a scratch on her chin that no one noticed until later at supper. Guess what? There was a story that she was proud to tell...

Well, off we go to have some fun!! Take care guys!!!

Evening everyone. Some parents these days are way to sensitive. I agree, no one wants to see their kids get hurt but kids need to learn something's themselves. Getting hurt is all a part of being a child, that's how you learn what not to do.

On a side note, I've decided I am selling my sled this summer. So if anyone wants or knows someone who wants a low mileage sled, mine will be for sale.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, stay safe and warm everyone.

Morning Fellas. Looking like the start of another marvelous January day here!! I don't think the temps even got below 0 over night. Next weekend we're back to cold for a few days, but not brutal cold.

We all had a good afternoon on the little hill. One of my wife's friends was there with her two little guys around the same age as our kids, so they played together for quite a while. Towards the time we were leaving we noticed a cross country skier had wiped out a ways past where we were sliding. After the person struggled for a little bit without getting up or anyone coming to help, my wife and I went to see what was up. It was an 84 yr old woman... 84 years old and still cross country skiing!!!!! What an inspiration. She wasn't hurt at all, but the little slope and way she fell, she wasn't able to get one ski off and get upright. She wasn't concerned at all...said she wasn't cold and someone usually does a sweep of the trails before they close it for the night. We're no hero's, but it does the soul good to see an 84 year old lady out and about.

Randy, I'm about to throw my sled on kijiji also. I'm just not getting the itch like I used to...snow sucks, by the time we do have enough (if we get enough) it will be so far into the winter a person won't be able to get many miles on anyway. Damned practical side taking over again. Good luck with selling yours!

Have a great Monday everyone!!!
