Rust Removal Tips

I bought a 1994 f250 HD 4x4 351 automatic. The body is real nice with no dents or dings, several barely noticeable light surface scratches and one or two tiny rust spots one or two on the ends of the 1/4's near the tailgate latches and one on the bottom of the door opening near the protetice plate, that is all however the chassis has some rust and the transmission crossmember appears to be fairly well rusted out, the side mounted fuel tank also appears to have a leak either in the tank, filler or both which i noticed only after filling it completely.

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on which way to best attack the rust and or fuel tank and crossmember. Should I conitue wire brushing or buy a sand blaster? Should I go to bare metal or just get rid of surface rust? Should I use a chassis paint or other rust inhibitor? I've found numerous products on the market, just not sure which is best-

Any recommendations between POR 15, Rust Bullet, Rust Doctor, Chasis Saver or Klean Strip, also Bill Hirsh Chassis Black, and Duplicolor? I also found a fuel tank sealer by Bill Hirsch, how does that work? Will any of these work well on steel or chorome rims or chrome bumpers as well? You can email at pospielg@yahoo.com

thanks for your ideas
