removing roof rack sliders

After reading about the sliders scratching the paint on the roof, I decided to remove mine. Can anyone tell me what the trick is? I lift the clips on either side..slide it to the rear..push down the little plastic doo-hickey..and it still won't come off

huh, i just removed mine yesterday after several years. after you lift the ends, slide it forward. then you have to push the tab down and slide it forward more. mine went to a certain point and then felt like they didnt want to go anymore. you just have to give it a firm bang of the palm and they will pop the rest of the way. mine all had a rubber strip under them so no scratches. the reason i removed mine was because my stereo was making the roof bounce so hard that they were ready to break off anyway. plus they were noisy when the bass hit.

think of the extra MPG . . . . thats it just think .... . . ..you wont notice a thing :lol:


well i didnt so i shoved em back on so i dont loose them.
