final question on relays & headlight conversion

I've almost completed the installation of the relays to make my headlights brighter on my 55, My question is I have an EZ wiring harness and my headlight switch "hot" wire goes into the fuse block, do I hook my two power wires from the relays to this wire between the switch & fuse block or do I go to the battery terminal?

Lights

The output from your headlight switch that normally goes to the headlights should now go to the coil of the relay. The other side of the coil goes to ground. The relay contacts attach one side to the battery voltage and the other side to the headlights. This same method applies to fan, fuel pump, etc. Have a great holiday,chuck

right, numbers for the relay connections, 2 relays
this is how I wired mine last week.

R1 ground -----> (85)
R1 battery ----> (30) (87)------> low beam
R1 headlight switch low beam --->(86)

R2 ground -----> (85)
R2 battery ----> (30) (87)------> high beam
R2 headlight switch low beam --->(86)

for me both waterproof relays are in the back of the grill space behind the left light. power runs across the grill to the relays, and the leads back from the relays to the right light.
(and park & turn anyhow, so 5 wires total)

the headlight switch driven wires come in on the left, thru the chassis and up into the grill from the roll pan.

I used weatherstrip adhesive and some clips from office funiture to organize computer cables to clamp the wrapped wire bundle to the back of the grill out of sight.

Sam,
I have everything wired as you mentioned except the 30, my question is should I run the wires with the 30 side of the relay to the battery or the wire that powers the light switch; which runs from the light switch to the fuse block.

The battery.. the intent is to get the power draw away from the fuse block.
(and of course it should be fused as well)

so now the headlight switch draw is only to energize the relay.. tiny..

eh? battery side of the coil?

it should be direct to the battery + post, with a fuse.

using the coil line drags the load thru the fuse block and ignition switch, which defeats the purpose of the relays..

do you mean Coil of the relay? (post 30?)
