96' F 150 throwing codes, don't know what to do.

My 96' 150 4x4 auto 5.8 is throwing codes PO1351 and PO1359. I took it to the ford dealership and all they said was the plugs were bad. Well, I had already put new ones in a little over a year ago but I went ahead and put some new Motorcraft plugs in. I have put a new cap, rotor, and wires also. They say the diagnostic machine had trouble communicating with the pcm but they don't think it is bad. I have also replaced the ignition module. Would this be the pcm? Also, my 4 wheel drive won't go into low range. It is push button. Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

Did you have these codes before you changed the ignition module?

Both are related to the ignition system and communication between the module and computer, if you installed a black module when you should have a grey one(or vise versa) you'll have problems since some of the signals are on different pins.

I would check the wiring to the TIF which should be on the driver's side fender between both the distributor and the computer. Look for frayed, chaffed, or other wise abused wiring looms and wires to see if you have some connection problems. Like Conanski has stated, you have a signal issue either the module is the problem or you have frayed wiring that needs repaired. Any corrosion in the wires can cause a loss of voltage, i.e. signal, and lead the computer to believe a problem exists. If you remember replacing the module where did you get it?

After thinking about this, did you remove the PIP? If this is missing the distributor will not get the spark advance and retard signals during use of the engine.
