Well Danny, if the shop installed the shaft, maybe they ought to pay for it. I just don't remember all the details. If they didn't, and balanced it, then they still ought to pay for it. I know, wishful thinking and more trouble than it is probably worth.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't see anyway that shaft will still be true. They are not made to bounce and roll. Gotta believe it is warped, bent, dinged or damaged in some way that will cause it to be unbalanced. But, what do I know. I really hope is will be as simple as bolt up and go. Good luck.

Mike, I installed the shaft myself almost two years ago, but I don't know what caused it to fail. Either way I'm "liable" for any repairs

Barry, I too hope it's just a install and go. I don't want to get this thing retubed for another $300...

AustinS is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.AustinS is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Find out who the Dana Spicer distributors are in your area here:
Dana Spicer Parts - Locate Light Duty Parts

They are the only u joints and hardware I buy anymore. The quality of the Chinese parts invasion at the normal parts stores keep getting worse.
Dana Spicer still makes a high quality product that is many times stronger than the rest of the competition. They are pricier, but worth every penny.

Austin

donewithsparkplugs is starting off with a positive reputation.
Remember when installing your shaft it can be 180* out of time and that will throw it of balance. Your better off to take the front slip yoke off and take it in to be sure its it time and balanced, 180* out could cause more damage.
180 off isnt so bad that just vibrates you want to really do damage put it 90 off that binds

I completely agree with this. And everytime Ive taken a driveshaft to get balanced, to a driveshaft shop, they have always commented on "wow you have the nice u joints on here". I always use spiced non greaseables. They are actually what the OEM joints were aswell.

Technically yes, but its important to make sure you dont over tighten and re adjust the crush collar, which changes your backlash, or under tighten, and well, i think you can tell were that goes.

thanks for the advise everyone, but that's just about everything I doing already- I hate foreign stuff hehe, I went the dealership and I know they run Spicer (OEM) only. ANd I don't know if you missed it in an earlier post plugs, but I'm lucky enough to have two dots that are my balance alignment line up points. I'll get the parts in tomorrow, and if I feel any vibration I'll play it safe and take it to a driveline shop.

I know on my 03' the spline on the shaft has a flat spot and can only be put back together one way.
