Noticed a few guys went to the HEI on their 460, looking for info

I finally gave up trying to chase wires in the mess the previous owner left under the hood, and dealing with no spark on my 460 swap, and ordered a 460 HEI. So, for any of you guys who did the HEI conversion, how do you like it? How has it been treating you? I've read about the clearance issues, and I'll deal with those, but as far as driveability and reliability, I'd like to hear how your experiences have been, as well as any issues wiring it up. Thanks!

I added an hei setup on my 77 f-150 w/429. Set at the same timing and no other changes I picked up about 150 rpm at idle, so that tells me that there is a lot hotter spark energy with the hei than the stock ignition

I used a 79 distributor with the big cap, then wired up a gm hei module with a heatsink, and a coil from an 89 mustang-works awesome, and way cheap! I had an msd 6al before that, but it died and this frankenstein setup seems to work just as good, and it looks stock.
If you google "gm hei upgrade" you'll find the info.

This is cool, I would have to get a different water neck to run a big cap, but I may have to try this.

My HEI ignition showed up today. I installed it (for the first time) knowing it would be "out of phase" just to verify spark, and sure enough, I have spark now. I'm going to set it this evening when it cools off...it's too hot and humid for me out there right now, but I'm excited to finally have some spark!

It's alive. I just fired it for the first time. Now to finish everything up, and get everything adjusted.
