bigdummyford is starting off with a positive reputation.
why is it doing this

My father in law has an '81 f35 with a dump body, someone replaced a fusible link that seems to power everything off the starter solenoid. Issue is that when the engine dies the fuse blows that replaced the fusible link, what kind of power is drawn from the solenoid to power it? and why only when the engine dies does the fuse blow what component might do this?

The engine is probably dying because the fuse is blowing. That fusible link runs everything but the starter. I don't know how you decided what size fuse to use, but for example a 30 amp is not going to do it. The best thing to do is buy another fusible link of the proper size, and install it. If you want to use a fuse, then you are going to have to get at least a 60, maybe even a 80, depending on how large the alternator is.

Piffery1 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
A 14 Gauge fusible link is what is in mine.
