Model Differences

Guys....I have a question. What is the difference between towing with an F series versus towing with an E series. Lets say a 7.3LPSD around m/y 01 E350 series to pull a 28 ft bumper pull?

Possible? Thoughts.......

Shouldn't be much different as far as towing is concerned.

The main difference that I know of is that there is no intercooler on the van, but there is a bigger turbo to keep the EGT's down instead of the intercooler.

So basically one would just need the reese hitch installed and a brake controller right?

With the loss of the intercooler (ie none in the E series) would a 50 mile max pull trip constitute a safe pull without the gauges? I am assuming that the E series unit runs 3:73's and all 2 lane and state route 55 mph roads?

the E-series is detuned a fair amount due to no intercooler 215hp in the E vs. 250 in the F. I would think you should be fine as far as EGT goes.

My 96 F250 had no intercooler and had 3:55 gears it towed a 30 ft bumper pull (7000 lbs ) great, you should be fine with your E350 so long as you don't go crazy on the weight.

With OEM programming you should be able to hook anything you want to it, and not hurt it. They make that stuff idiot proof. Well sort of, they are building better idiots nowadays.
