Ive been looking into getting a upgraded headlight harness for my truck. I was just wondering if any of you guys have these harnesses and what you think of them?
Ive read on the internet that since they pull power from the battery you get brighter lights and since the headlight switch is no longer pulling the power they wont overheat and melt, which is suppose to be a common problem.
It says daytime running lites must be disabled to use this harness. Does anybody know why? and how would i disable my DRL? Also do any of you guys have HID lights? I would like to get a set in the near future and i was wondering if i would be able to use this harness with HID lights?

K first of all... The head light switch isn't causing that much resistance in the circuit that its actually dimming the lights.
This harness looks like maybe it uses some sort of relay to bypass the switch in the dash. There is only really a point in doing this if you have some headlights that are pulling a massive amount of current.
For a quick check, find out how many amps your headlights are going to pull (should be available from the manufacturer of the head lamp), look at the chart here: American Wire Gauge table and AWG Electrical Current Load Limits and see if the wiring in your truck is thick enough.
If its just stock headlights though, its frivolous in my opinion.

There is no issue with the stock harness unless you put high wattage halogen bulbs in the lights. If you do this all you really need to do is run a heavy wire directly from the battery to a relay to power the bulbs, and then use the OEM headlight power line to switch the relay. If you're going to real HID lights, you'll want to use the harness they supply with the lights. Real HID lights use a transformer(ballast) to boost the voltage, so they will come with all the necessary hardware for the install.
