Heavy Duty Headlight Harness

Ive been looking into getting a upgraded headlight harness for my truck. I was just wondering if any of you guys have these harnesses and what you think of them?

Ive read on the internet that since they pull power from the battery you get brighter lights and since the headlight switch is no longer pulling the power they wont overheat and melt, which is suppose to be a common problem.

It says daytime running lites must be disabled to use this harness. Does anybody know why? and how would i disable my DRL? Also do any of you guys have HID lights? I would like to get a set in the near future and i was wondering if i would be able to use this harness with HID lights?

The DRL circuit is integrated into the original harness, and is somewhat like a "3rd mode" for the lights. The aftermarket harness is only designed for 2 modes, high and low beam. The instructions in your link tell you how to disconnect the DRL's.

The harness does make the lights brighter, and there is a theory that it will shorten the life of the bulbs because of the higher voltage, but even if the life was shorter, the benefits outweigh the shorter lifespan.

yeah im not worried about shortening the liftspan of my lights. i cant remember when the last time was i had to change headlights in a vehicle because they died.

i just found the part about disconnecting the DRL. apparaently i just unplug it from the module on the rad support on the drivers side.

now i just need to make sure i can use them if i decided to get some HID lights.
