New Alpine CD problems

Well my dad got a 02 Maxda protege 5 to drive back and forth to work for better gas mileage and the stock stereo was terrible in it so I had a brand new Alpine CDE-9874 that I put in it. The stereo was still in box and never used. I bought the mounting kit, wiring harness and tools from Crutchfield and got them in 2 days. I got everything wired up and looking good and everything worked but I couldnt get a CD to go in. I could hear it trying to pull it in but it was like the CD was hitting something preventing it from going in enough to get pulled in automaticly. I hit eject and it said no CD and tried to see if something was in the way but I couldnt really see anything. I pulled it out and messed with it and still couldnt get it to go in.

Anything I should try? The Alpine deck was bought a while ago so I cant really take it back. If I cant get the CD part fixed he is going to just get an Ipod for it.

Thanks

Make sure the mounting cage is not bent or the chassis is not bent. If the face doesn't sit flush, then it may cause the cd to not go in.

Some cd players have a shipping setting, or something stuck in them so the parts don't shift while shipping and cause the unit to malfunction. Read through the manual and make sure that there isn't something you have to do before you use the CD player for the first time.

Usually this is only for CD changers though.

If you try everything and still don't get it to work I would still give Crutchfield a call. I have been told that they have pretty good customer service and they still might be able to help you out. Otherwise your unit probably has a one year warranty on it. You might have to contact Alpine and see what they say to do.
