Question better wheel option?

i am looking at the XD hoss wheel and 4wp has two specs listed * Back Spacing = 5.18 in. * Offset = 30 mm. * Hub Bore = 125.5 * Finish = Black and this one * Back Spacing = 5.70 in. * Offset = 18 mm. * Hub Bore = 125.5 * Finish = Black which is better for 38x15x18 inch tires and there both 18x9

I think you may have your offset's mixed up. The 5.18" backspace should have the 18mm offset, and the 5.7" backspace should have the 30mm ofset.

5.18-4.5 = 0.68x25.4 = 17.3mm

5.7-4.5 = 1.2x25.4 = 30.5mm

You would want the wheel with the least amount of backspacing since you have a 2002 superduty. So the 5.18 would be better for you.

I'm not real great with wheel stuff though, so you probably want to get a secodn opinion.

You'll want the smaller backspacing to stay closer to stock and keep it from sticking out too much, but then you may have rubbing issues on the leaf springs. 15" is an awfully wide tire, if it were me I'd get the lower backspace and a narrower tire.

With a 99-04 you'll want a wheel with 4.5" backspacing.

18x9 is too narrow for a 38/15.50.

And with over 5" of backspacing you will have a severly limited turning radius since your tires will hit the leaf springs.

Toyo makes a 38/15.50R18 and they also make a 38/13.50R18 in the Open Country MT.

The KMC Hoss is also available in a 20x9 with -12mm offset (4.53" backspacing) which is more appropriate for lifted applications. I do agree though that the 20x9 Hoss will be too narrow for a 38/15.5.

See here for this and many other black wheel options: Black 20 Inch - Truck Toyz Store
