1997 Ford 150 with blown motor

Hi guys, I can get 97 F150 reg cab long box in mint condition with a blown 4.2 v6 for $600 bucks. It has about 150,000 miles on it. There is no rust and it has new tires on it, should I go for it. Is it worth buying? It even has a full tank of gas in it.

Yeah I would. I sold my V6 in good running shape for $400, so in that situation you'd have a decent later model truck for $1000. On the other side of that- the converters on that truck are worth $200, the truck is probably worth $400 at the crusher and the wheels about $75 in aluminum plus there is a full tank of gas. If you could talk him down from $600 you could definitely make it profitable to junk it out.

$600 is the bottom line,he was asking $800. I guess I cant lose, the box must be worth at least $400 and new tires with factory rims $200 or I could find a good used 4.2 and drop it in and resell the truck.

I would definetly buy it... even if you didnt want to fix it, like said before me you could scrap it for more than $600.
I know where i live you could get over $600 just for the truck, then you have cat converter and aluminum wheels. Then you could sell the tires on craigslist.

Are you FL? I could use a factory 16X8 six spoke and other parts! Just for hoarding!

Yeah i just found out scrap metal value where live.. and it is like $14.50 per 100 lbs.
That means that for a normal F-150(around 5000lbs) you could get $720!

I would get a good used motor and install it, the truck should easily bring $3500-4000 running!

if i was gonna keep the truck, i would go with a reman'd engine

EBay Motors 97-03 4.2L long block
