Eric_F250 is starting off with a positive reputation.
it smells like burning!

went in today to have my e-brake cables replaced. i tested the e-brake and it was WAY tighter than it had been. i released it and the light went off. $350 later i drove off.

i live 20 miles away from the shop and when i got out i noticed the smell of burning brakes. about 20 minutes later i went back out to the truck and still smelled it so i bent down to check it out and i could feel heat radiating off the passenger rear wheel. i touched the hub and it was too hot to keep touching! even the tire was almost too hot to touch. went in and got a couple of 5 gal buckets of water and splashed it all over to cool it off.

i didn't notice it pulling and it didn't seem to take more juice to keep it at speed on my drive.

tomorrow i'll be calling the shop before driving to town.

in your experience, how much damage could have occurred if i drove home with the brake partially engaged? any thoughts, comments, suggestions?
