2000 EXP, 188,000 miles
I've noticed this week that when I accelerate, there is a whinning-high pitch sound even like bees buzzing. The sound stops as soon as I take my foot off the pedal and it doesn't do it when the car is in park and I accelerate the engine. Any ideas?

Reason: spelling
The whine goes away in higher gears but also immediately if you come off the accelerator. Most noticeable when starting. Don't feel anything starnge in the transmission or shifting. Current transmission fluid has about 70,000 miles.
Is that something that should be very expensive to replace?
Do I have time or does it need to looked at immediately?
I wouldn't wait too long. If the bearing seizes and rotates in the housing it will get real expensive real fast. At the very least, get it into a tranny shop and ask their opinion on it because I could be wrong.
Automatic Transmission, what about torque converter which if so, I understand to mean a new or rebuilt Transmission. 2000 model with 188,000, is $3,000 plus worth it?

By any chance have you checked out the power steering as a possible source of the whine? That's a lot less expensive than a tranny rebuild. This is why I suggested that you bring it to a tranny shop for verification before you lose any sleep over this. $3K is only worth it if a new truck is not in the budget.
