Need help with brake system: Rotors.

My 2005 had the rotors resurfaced under warranty at about 20K because of a pulsation during braking . I need to replace the rotors because it is doing it again and I am afraid to put the motorcraft rotors on after the trouble I have had with these. I called the parts department at the local dealership at they cost 691.08 for both front rotors and the nuts that are not supposed to be re-used. I do not want to spend that kind of money and have to put another set of rotors on in 60K. Has anyone found a good set of replacement rotors for these trucks. My truck is a supercrew with the trailer tow package, 3.73 limited slip axle and 7050 GVWR package. The build date was 8-2-05. I do occasional towing but nothing super heavy or long distance.

Should I go with aftermarket or has Ford fixed the problem with these rotors?

Aftermarket unless you enjoy spending money unnecessarily. I like motorcraft parts, but not their brake prices.

I put ssbc slotted rotors and pads on my 2004. I have about 60k on them with no problems. I had hoped they would improve the stopping distance, but really hasn't. I'm also at the point that I need new pads, my rear inboard pads are almost gone!

did you put the green stuff pads on?, any better with the brake dust on the front rims? having to wash my rims over when the truck is still clean and shining is becoming annoying not that i don't like washing my truck it just looks like i do not give a ***** about the rims

SB crossdrilled/slotted rotors for $75 a piece and I did all 4, Hawk pads at $89 for the set. Did this when my truck had 64,000 miles on it, stock rotors were warped and already had them turned once and was going through pads like there was no tommorow. Well, 43,000 miles later and I am VERY impressed. Pads look like they could go another 40 ot 50,000 miles and I get virtually NO dust. Truck stops great. No offense to Ford, but I will never go back to oem rotors, the ones my truck rolled off the factory with were absolute JUNK!!!! I know some will disagree with me but that's what I did, and I'm very happy with the setup, and all for $389. Did this myself as I don't take my truck to the stealership and this really isn't hard to do if you have the right tools and you've done brakes before. Hope this helps.

don't you just love that? good brakes, but they seem to disinegrate all over the rims. I'll be doing the sbcc rotors, and either the hawk or akebono's once i get a little more wear out of the ones I have.

After my rotors were turned I put Wagner Thermoquiet brake pads on my truck. They completely did away with the dust problem. I will be putting them back on with the new aftermarket rotors. Thank you for all the input.

Yes, the new pads eliminated the brake dust. Didn't put the green stuff on, but I like Mitch's setup. I think when it's time to replace the rotors, I will go with SB. Just can't afford spending that much money again.

I cannot find SB rotors. The SSBC rotors are 292.00 a piece for the fronts. Power Stop is around 97.00. Called NAPA and they have their premium brand United for 199.00 per.

Hey Arnold and Twinsdad, my bad they're not SB, they're SP. Sorry. Google SP Performance. I just checked the website I ordered from a year or so ago and they are apparently no longer around. I'm looking at my reciept for them now and like I said they were $75 a piece. I got them from a site called Nationalfleet parts.com

I have an 04 f150 and when i look for rotors, and put in 04 it comes up as the old body style with 5 or 7 lug. I assume 05 will work, i dont think they changed anything did they? Also i can get power stops cross drilled for 184.90 shipped and sp performance slotted and drilled for 227.41 which ones should i go with??

There are reports of the cross drilled rotors cracking so I am going to steer clear of them. I think I am going to go with NAPA.

Good luck luck with that Arnold, hope they work out good for you. I haven't seen any reports on cracking rotors, but I'll take your word on that. Mine haven't and show no signs of it so I hope they don't. Still happy with my choice!

i've had three vehicles with cross drilled rotors and none of them cracked.....well over 100,000 miles combined. My only complaint with them was the power stop rotors are a little noisier when stopping.
