Loose spare tire

My spare tire is really loose like it looks like it is going to fall off and it clunks around when i go over bumps. Ive tried tightening it but it seems that its as tight as it will go. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Im thinking of making another bracket to hold it in place a little better.

heres a thought to try...... look up above the tire and see what the cable looks like.... perhaps it is bunched up and not evenly wrapped, which could cause the cable to rub against the bracket and get tight before all slack is brought up.

maybe if the cable is binding up before it gets tight try flipping the tire upside down, makes it harder to get the cable in the spare but the cable will be extended down an extra few inches maybe allowing you to get the spare up tight

I will have to look at the cable today and hopefully it is bunched up so its an easy fix.
